When I chose Spanish as one of my majors here at the University of Georgia, I looked through the Bulletin at all of my class options. I found the service-learning class and immediately knew it would be one of the classes I would take to complete my major. I’ve worked with the Spanish speaking population of Athens for two years now, and this class was an excellent opportunity to continue my service. In the past, I’ve volunteered at ALCES, Casa de Amistad, Judia Jackson Harris Charter School, and helped translate at the bi-annual parent-teacher conferences. These experiences were very beneficial for me, but my heart has always been with Spanish speaking children. In the service learning class this semester, I have been a volunteer at Oasis Católico Santa Rafaela, and I’ve continued to help at JJ Harris.
